Tuesday and the Locks

Today started with an alarm that didn't go off according to plan. Remaining flexible, we simply got started later than we'd hoped. Just to make fun of us, a kingfisher flew overhead and gave us a good cackle. Cool bird, one of many favorites.
You do have to remain flexible going through the locks, Len and Lynnea had it right when the blogged about all the traffic. One nice thing that happened was that we preceded the Lock Inspectors, so most of them looked pretty clean and spiffed up.
I love it when they finally open the doors to let you out!
And then there's the quick and dirty marlin-spike seamanship: oh my-
We ended our travel day just in front of Lock 5. We hopped onto a dock there in front of a little park, went for a land stroll to stretch our legs, Minnie too, with about 1 foot of water under the keel. Close, but good.
Tomorrow we start earlier.
