I
So far, the Yanmar 4JH has behaved beautifully. We have so much more confidence in our having a successful trip and without too much angst because of the little Yanmar. And getting from Lake Champlain down to the Catskill NY, is all about the engine until the mast goes back up and we become a sailboat again, tomorrow, woo hoo! Here's a short series of photos when we dropped the Yanmar in with the help of Bruce Deming at Champlain Marina and Ken Kajenski of Ski Marine earlier in 2014. What can I say about these two guys - I trust them, explicitly. They're reliable, hard- working, professional, and they know their stuff. They're just very good guys. Here's the pics:
Off the truck and pallet-
Hoisting it to above deck-
It'll fit through that hatch?
About 1/16 inch shy. No problem. Besides, the battle scar tells a story.
Ken receiving the engine below decks-
Then the process of inching it forward to it's resting place.
The rest of the install and sea-trials went like clock-work..
