Replacing the core on the foredeck....

......Steve has dug out the old core sections on the foredeck in order to beef up for the new windlass. It was a checkboard pattern of 4" x 1/2" blocks of wood which were set into a pattern and filled in between with some type of epoxy. Theory being that if water penetrates the core, it will only travel as far as the epoxy barrier. I guess it works??? Still a fair amount of decay in the core of the 24 year old. I'm glad that we are going through this step.

Bow roller....Gone

I've taken off the SS bow roller which currently allows us to have one anchor on the bow. Steve and I will rework this one so that it will allow for 2 anchors to be kept on the bow if so desired. We will not likely sail with both up there all the time due to weight on the bow issues but, when it looks like we will want a second anchor at some point, we'll take our time getting it up there on our terms. Our terms being some nice quiet anchorage hours before the forseen weather rather than on the spur of the moment in a blow.
